Cindy
(Gilliam) Miles began playing the fiddle at the age of 12 after
her younger sister, Wendy, started taking fiddle lessons from a local
fiddle instructor. Eventually, Cindy and her three younger siblings were
playing and performing together.
Cindy has been a fiddle and piano
instructor since 1983, teaching people of all ages to play. She
has competed in fiddle contests and performed throughout the
Northwestern United States and British Columbia, winning numerous
awards.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish from the University
of Idaho and an Idaho Teacher's Certificate with endorsements in
grades 6-12 mathematics and Spanish in 1992. Cindy
is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies.

The fiddling method in the Old-Time Fiddling series was
developed over many years of teaching. Cindy writes the
books and plays the instruments on the CD’s while her
husband, Russel, is the audio engineer, marketing
director, web designer, graphic artist, and publisher.
Miles Music has been
publishing the Old-Time Fiddling series since introducing Book One
in 2000. Over 5,500 copies have been sold to music stores, fiddle
instructors, and people of all ages across the United States and
Canada. |

Miles Music
is located in north central Idaho on the beautiful Weippe Prairie
near the small town of Weippe. Russel and Cindy, along with their
five children, enjoy making music on the ranch that Russel’s
family has owned since 1949. |
